Greetings to HIM Queen Shebah III, other Royals, and all members of the group - especially those who enjoy literature and reading. Today I would like to introduce Nobel Prize Winner Sir Vidiadhar Surajprasad Naipaul by sharing this short piece about him.
Author VS Naipaul won the 2001 Nobel Prize in Literature for using a unique perceptive narrative that reflected an incorruptible scrutiny for works which forced readers to recognize the presence of suppressed history.
He was born in Trinidad in 1932 from descendants who moved from India to Trinidad to work as indentured labourers. Having received a scholarship, he moved to the United Kingdom to attend Oxford University where he later became a citizen.
Before being awarded the Nobel Prize, the author had won the 1971 Booker Prize for his novel "In a Free State." He also received Trinidad and Tobago's Trinity Cross in 1989, and was knighted by the British Monarch in 1990.
Naipaul passed away on August 11, 2018 having been internationally known for his works of English fiction and nonfiction.
I loved his books and short stories! One of my favorite was The House Of Mr Biswass! A legend and a national Hero of Trinidad and Tobago.
